Sebastian Pengue

Sebastiano Pengue, beloved father, family man, and friend, passed away peacefully on December 16, 2025, at the age of 67, in Florida, USA. Born in Guardia Sanframondi, Italy, he carried his roots with him wherever life took him. A true citizen of the world, he lived in Italy, Canada, the United States, and Brazil.

He believed in stepping beyond comfort zones and encouraged his children to do the same - teaching them to explore, grow, and see life and cultures with openness and curiosity. A man of depth, resilience, and quiet strength, he faced his long and courageous battle of cancer with grace, and positivity, meeting life’s final challenges with humility, calm, and an unwavering belief in the goodness of people. A lover of life in all its forms, he was always authentic to his core.

A true Renaissance man, he possessed effortless charm, humor and a remarkable range of talents. He was an artist, teacher, musician, builder, cook, linguist (speaking five languages), and lifelong creator. He earned a Bachelor of Arts from Brigham Young University and a Master of Arts from the University of Toronto, creating art throughout his life, and never separating learning from living. Some mentionable projects include contributions to the Salt Lake City 2002 Winter Olympics, the Loveland Living Planet Aquarium, He established the Italian restaurant Gusto, in Salt Lake City in 2000 and always had many of his beautiful sculptures and paintings displayed.

He held a reverence for Christianity and lived according to the principles of the bible, philosophers and Stoics he studied. Having served a Mormon LDS mission and studied alongside catholic priests during his college years, his life was guided by faith and spirituality.  Above all, he cared about people. He made others feel seen, valued, and understood, listening without judgment and meeting everyone as an equal all while having fun.

His children were the most important thing in the world to him. Every sacrifice was an act of love for them, and even in difficult moments, his thoughts were always with his children. They were the light of his life and his greatest joy.

He is preceded in death by his father, Pasquale Pengue (Nov 3, 1929).

He is survived by his mother, Rosina Ceniccola; his siblings, Lidia and Geppino Pengue; and his children, Natasha, Alexa, Marcus, and Kiara Pengue.

A celebration of his life will be held in the spring, as his children honor him by bringing his ashes to places that meant the most to him, including Utah, Florida, and throughout Italy. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be considered in his honor.

è serenamente mancato il 17 dicembre 2025, all’età di 67 anni, in Florida (USA).

Nato a Guardia Sanframondi, Italia ha portato con sé per tutta la vita l’amore per le proprie radici, pur vivendo in diversi Paesi del mondo. Uomo di spirito internazionale, ha vissuto in Italia, Canada, Stati Uniti e Brasile, incarnando pienamente il significato di cittadino del mondo.

Credeva nel valore di andare oltre la propria zona di comfort e ha trasmesso questo insegnamento ai suoi figli, incoraggiandoli a esplorare, crescere e guardare la vita e le diverse culture con curiosità e la mente aperta. Uomo di grande profondità, resilienza e forza silenziosa, ha incontrato le prove finali della vita con umiltà, serenità e una fede incrollabile nella bontà delle persone.

Amante della vita in tutte le sue forme, è stato sempre autentico fino in fondo. Vero uomo rinascimentale, dotato di naturale fascino, ironia e di molteplici talenti, è stato artista, insegnante, musicista, costruttore, cuoco, e linguista (parlava cinque lingue). Ha conseguito una Laurea in Arti presso la Brigham Young University e un Master of Arts presso l’Università di Toronto, dedicando tutta la sua vita alla creazione artistica, senza mai separare lo studio dal vivere. Tra i suoi lavori più significativi si ricordano contributi alle Olimpiadi Invernali di Salt Lake City 2002, al Loveland Living Planet Aquarium, Ha fondato il ristorante Gusto a Salt Lake City nel 2000, oltre alle numerose sculture e opere pittoriche esposte.

Legato al Cristianesimo, ha vissuto secondo i principi della Bibbia, dei filosofi e degli Stoici che tanto amava studiare. Dopo aver svolto una missione mormone LDS e aver studiato accanto a sacerdoti cattolici durante gli anni universitari, la sua vita è stata guidata dalla fede e dalla spiritualità.

Soprattutto, amava profondamente le persone. Sapeva far sentire chiunque visto, apprezzato e compreso, ascoltando senza giudizio e incontrando tutti come suoi pari, sempre con leggerezza e gioia di vivere.

I suoi figli sono stati la cosa più importante della sua vita. Ogni sacrificio è stato per loro un gesto d’amore; anche nei momenti più difficili, il suo pensiero è sempre rimasto rivolto a loro. Erano la sua luce e la sua gioia più grande.

Lo precede nella morte il padre Pasquale Pengue (3 novembre 1929).
Lascia la madre Rosina Ceniccola, i fratelli Lidia e Geppino Pengue, e i figli Natasha, Alexa, Marcus e Kiara Pengue.

Una celebrazione della sua vita si terrà in primavera: i figli lo ricorderanno portando le sue ceneri nei luoghi a lui più cari, tra cui Utah, Florida, e diverse località in Italia.

In luogo dei fiori, la famiglia invita a considerare donazioni in sua memoria.
