It is with great sadness and mixed emotions we pen these few words regarding one we knew and loved so well.
Mitchell Darrell Lewis, the third child and second son of the late Deacon Amos Lewis and Bessie Ruth Britt Lewis, was born in St. George, SC. Mitchell was an infant when his parents and siblings relocated to Brevard County, FL where Mitchell grew up and attended Brevard County Public Schools. He graduated from Astronaut High School and attended college in Tyler, Texas.
During his formative years, Mitchell played baseball along with his brothers at Mims Little League. He was also a member of his school's wrestling team.
He was a kind soul who never sought to hurt anyone. His family fondly remembers him as reminding them, "It's all about Jesus," before hanging up on a phone call. He never said goodbye, but always with a wave and the words, "I'll see ya in a little while."
He is survived by a son, Jonathan Terrell (Felicia) Gillyard; devoted siblings, Deloris Lewis-Ray (David Ferguson) and Amos M. (Casandra) Lewis; special sister, Janice Carmichael; three granddaughters and one great-grandchild; and numerous other family members.
We are so grateful to all who have reached out with kindness during this transition and solicit your continued prayers.
