Lois Brown Obituary

Mother Lois Alberta Brown was born February 12, 1942, in Chipley, Florida to the late Quincy Kent and Birdie Dee Moore Kent. She grew up with six sisters and six brothers in Mims, FL.

Mother Brown received her primary education at Cuyler Elementary School in Mims.  She was a graduate of Andrew J. Gibson High School in Titusville, FL.

She was the devoted wife of 59 years to Eugene Brown who recently preceded her in death. She was the loving mother of three amazing children, Lawanna Renee who also preceded her in death, Scottie and Bobby.

Lois and Gene were the entrepreneurs of Eugene Brown Excavating Co. until their retirement several years ago.  They spent most of their lives in Mims, FL and were positive contributors to the community. After retiring the couple relocated to the city of Titusville, FL. For almost two years, Lois lived in Lexington, SC until her homegoing on November 5, 2023.

Lois as she was called by family and friends, was always a special person in her own right. She entered any room with grace and elegance. Her genuine love for mankind always reflected in the way she greeted others.  She loved walking and was seen most in the early morning walking the bridge in Titusville. She was unselfish in her prayers whether privately or publicly.  Many were the recipient of her godly wisdom, motivation and prayer.  She was enthusiastic about life, her Lord, and that’s how she would want to be remembered. Her favorite Bible verse is Psalm 121:1 “I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help.”

Her life was dedicated to the Lord and she worshipped Him wholeheartedly.  Early in life her gifts and talents were shared with the Mims Church of God under the leadership of the late Bishop Thomas Williams.  In the late 70’s she united with The Church of God in Christ in Mims, FL under the leadership of the late Superintendent W.P Price. She later joined Bible Way Church of God in Christ Oak Hill, FL in September 1996, under leadership of Elder Willie G. Wood.

Others preceding her in death include her siblings: Betty Jean Kent and Peggy Ann Lewis.

Precious memories remain with sons: Scottie Brown (LaVern) of Port Orange, FL and Bobby Brown (Michelle) of Lexington, SC;  two grandchildren, Ericka of Port Orange, FL and Nicolas (Zaria) of Rock Hill, SC, and two great grandchildren; siblings: Quincy (Jane) Kent of Inglewood, CA, Marilyn Ingram, Myrtle Wilcox both of Titusville, FL, Thomas Edward Kent of West Palm Beach, FL, Floy Kent-Fultz of Huntsville, FL, Norman Kent, Willie Jerome Kent, Sherman Kent, Michael Kent, Tammy Kent, Phyllis (Ralph) Berbridge of Mims, FL; brother-in-law, Earl (Maryanne) Brown of Titusville, FL and sister-in-law, Dorothy B. Stevens of Mims, FL;  two special friends, Ruth Jackson of Rockledge, FL and Margaret Waters of Titusville, FL;  her Godchildren that she adored; Anita Seigler, Alyse Barton, Scottie Mcconnico; and a host of nieces and nephews.
